Surviving the rough times

You are having the worst day, week, month or going through a long rough patch,
you feel like things couldn't get worse and won't get better but trust me (from personal experience ) in time they will.

No matter what it is, whether is be, school sucks, fighting with a friend, being bullied, fighting with your family or even something as terrible as losing a loved one, it may seem to be the impossible, but eventually hard times will not be so hard

Although I can assure you it will get better, that things have a way of working out that things will not always be terrible, it does not change the fact that you may be having a rough time or that in life you will have bad times.

When you are having one of those " things suck" patches, one of the best thing you can do is to have someone to talk to, the feeling of clearing your head of all the stress just by saying it out loud rather than keeping it all bottled up is a big relief, if you have trouble talking to someone about your troubles it also helps to write it down in a letter to yourself, as silly as this may sound, it defiantly helps.

If you can figure out why it is you are having a rough time and not feeling so happy it is a good way to the path to things getting better, find a solution there is always one even when you think there is no solution to your situation, you just have to dig a little deeper, sometimes it is a matter of patients and time.

If there is something you can do about whatever the problem is than act straight away instead of sitting on the idea until it is too late or things get worse, to make this clearer and give you an idea of what I mean here is an example.

eg. You are having a fight with your best friend, you have told another person a secret she had trusted you with. Don’t just do nothing and feel sorry for yourself it will only make things worse for you and your friendship, do everything possible from saying sorry face to face if that does not work don't just give up do what ever possible to fix it.

Try to stay relaxed this is a lot easier said than done but if you can remember this when your not having the best day it will help you get through it just remind yourself it will all work out.

Rough times come and go all throughout life from the smallest things to the biggest; knowing how to deal with them is something you need to learn in life and realising that things will get better and having a way of dealing with things helps you make those times a lot easier.

Turning to suicide cutting any kind of self harm is not a solution and life is worth living it is an opportunity not a burden, when you have solutions like suicide going through your head remember this but also remember your family and friends the people who love you and care for you even if you may not think so you will see in time to come that you would be missed.

This is a great blog (http://depressedteenhi.blogspot.com) could be very helpful to you if you are feeling not so good right now you may find it helpful to make a blog and post when you are not feeling to happy.

Keep your eyes out for more posts; I'll be back with more soon.

  2. Hey Hayley,
Some good advice in there, writing things down always helps me. I love reading it back weeks later, and having a laugh to myself. You know when you're over something when you can laugh about it. Mum dying, not so funny (probably never get over that one) but my ex boyfriend.. hilarious!

  3. Hi Sydney Live,
Thanks for the comment, you are right it is good to look back and laugh you sometimes realise how funny the things you stressed over are, but yes definatly not at the sad times like you say it is something you will never get over but im sure writting it all down and getting all out helped.

  4. Hi Sarah,
First things first, It is great you have acknowleged it is something that you need to learn. Emotions can be very overwhelming, writting things down really does help take the stress away a bit in saying that it is not for everyone. When you are having a rough time, try to stay calm, figure out why you are having a rough time and figure out what you can do, there is always a solution. You may not realise it at the time but things do get better and life does go on. I wish you luck with dealing with rough times you may have in the future and if there are any questions I can try and answer for you please feel free to ask.
