It is a scary thought but some kids start smoking at the age of 10 and sometimes younger. If you are a teen smoker you should think before you light up another and consider this.
Not only are your lungs slowly accumulating tar but in time you will notice wrinkles and will look older than you should, being a young teen who wants to look older than he or she is, well I can see how this wouldn’t matter to you at all but, when you are 30 and look 40 you will start regretting it.
Not to mention the long term affects like shortness of breath, continuous coughing, yellow fingers and stained teeth.
Or the even more serious life threatening affects like cancer, heart disease and stroke, emphysema If you are still not scared well what can I say you should be.
Have you ever stopped and even thought why you smoke? Or how you started?
Think about it, I am almost sure I can speak on behalf of the majority of teen smokers out there when I say that you most likely started because your friends smoke or curiosity.
You are born without relying on cigarettes and without cravings. Why start now? Why put your body in the danger of life threatening affects.
Here is what 18 year old Cameron, who has recently quit smoking after 3 years.
How old were you when you first started smoking?
“I was 15”
Wow, that’s young, why did you start?
“I was at a party and my older sister offered me one, being curious I decided to try it”
How often did you smoke?
“At first just socially but that eventually turned into everyday”
Wow that is a lot of smoking and from so young, Have you noticed any improvement to your health?
“I actually have noticed, I don’t cough as much, my fingers don’t smell or my breath, and I feel healthier”
What made you stop?
“It was making me sick, I would get really light headed like I was going to pass out”
Did you find it easy to stop?
“A lot easier than I thought, I think as you get older and have been smoking for longer it get’s harder, my older sister found it really hard”
What would you say to a teen smoker or a teen that was thinking about smoking?
“Don’t do it it’s not worth it, it taste’s bad and it doesn’t do you any good”
That is what teen Cameron had to say on the topic.
I hope this opens your eye’s a bit more to see that curiosity and looking cool isn’t worth your health.
If you want the longest and healthiest life possible and you are a teen who smokes or are considering it please consider this first.
Quitting may be hard but you are doing your body a huge favour.
(http://quittingcigarettes.blogspot.com/) This is a blog by a smoker trying to quit, seems to help him through the rough times, check it out and good luck to those of you who have decided to try give quitting a go. That’s all for today but stay tuned for more.
very true Hayley, totally agree with you on this topic. i have smoked a couple of times when I was younger but this was just a social scene and for me to think i was 'cool'. i no longer smoke due to the fact that i matured, and of the overwhelming media showing grotesque images of what will happen. my advice to everyone.. DON'T BE A FOOL, DON'T SMOKE!
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, I am happy to hear you that you stopped smoking and realised smoking is not the way to go.
ReplyDeleteniice to see an interview in your post. I tried smoking and didn't like it and i never tried it ever agin after that. What i seem amazing is that the ads on TV don't seem to work. The latest ad about getting told you have cancer isn't the hard news the hard news is telling your kids was on when i was at a mates house and her mum smokes ALOT and she saw the ad and so did I and I asked her doesn't that make you want to quit (she has 3 children and always does everything for them) and she straight up said no. it was very suprising!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. That is suprising, I guess a person who smokes doesn't think bad things likem that would ever happen to them, The sad thing is when it does you can't go back in time and people seem to change a lot when something bad actually happens to them and wish they had never smoked realising how precious life is.The stress that is put on how bad smoking is, is done for a reason. Thanks for the comment:)
ReplyDeleteon the asubject of smoking; i was talking to my friend the other day about how its so weird when people just start smoking later in life at like 21 or something to try and be cool or whatever. It is more understandable if someone started at 16 when they were young and nieve maybe easier to fall into peer pressure. just seems kind of stupid to start if you know all the risks involved. there's so many ads etc around these days and warning on packets. that aside i am always tempted to start smoking when you see an awesome photo of a musician with a cigarette in black and white or audrey hepburn smoking..
ReplyDeleteHi shannon, you have a good point and yeh why would you start when you are older maybe these people are trying to do what thier friends do so they are not left out i know that sounds immature of an older person who should know better but some people are still very immature at that age.I think even kids should know how bad it is there is enough negative shown over the world for kids to understand how bad it is for them but i supose it is like anything people have to realise on thier own terms but hopefully things like this post will be an eye opener.
