Decisions big and small

Every decision you make big or small can take you down a different path in life, that’s why you have to stop and think about the decisions you make and the possible outcome it they may have.

Whether it be deciding to sneak off to a party, have a cigarette or something as simple as what you eat.

A number of influences lead to making a decision, talking to family (mainly your parents/guardian, friends, or even following and basing your decision on what another person thinks, getting what you want or where you want can be another big influence.

Although it may not be something you realise but your morals, beliefs and values have a significant impact on your decisions therefore how you live your life, for example, a person who makes the decision to say no to drugs, that person’s decision may have stemmed from their morals, beliefs or values.

You make decisions throughout your whole life, so how do you know you are making the right decisions and are you making them for the right reasons?

You need to think about the decisions you make, why you’re making them and what the possible outcome could be also who you are making the decision for and who it could affect, it may seem extreme to think so deeply about making a decision but it may be something you regret after.

I can honestly say if I could go back in time there are lots of decisions I would stop and think about before making them instead of not thinking the important ones through and following what my friends did or making decisions on the spur of the moment, luckily I have realised how important decisions are and how much they can change your life.

Most importantly you should make decisions for yourself and for the right reasons.

  1. yeah decissions are hard especiialy when it involves other people or other people are influencing your decission.

you need to also think of the consequences before you do something even though that is easier said than done.

i my self have made decisions which i have paid a massive price for and on other ocassions i was lucky enough to get away with what i and my mates were getting upto at the time

  2. Hey hayley,
I completely agree with you. I myself would change a few decisions that I made in my past, I believe parents actually give the best advice and should be listened to more often, they really do have your best interests at heart. I've hopefully matured in my decision making and hope that I have no major regrets in my choice- although I know there will be a few.

I'll keep reading, thanks for the great posts

  4. Hi Katie,
You are right most of our parents/guardians do have our best interests heart, so if you are unsure of something it is a good idea to hear what your parents have to say although it is smart to decide for yourself sometimes,in saying this it does not mean going against your parents decisions while you are still at a young age. eg. still in school :)Parents do have a lot of good advice i only wish i realised that earlier in life. You have to remember they have been through a lot of what you are going through.
